The Library

The Library contains awide range of specialist bookson all aspects of boats and boating. Some of these books have been in the Club's possession since its foundation in 1926 and make fascinating reading; whilst some are the latest publications.
There is a small but comprehensive section of reference books for use within the Club House. This section includes the latest Almanacs, Tide Tables and Pilot books. The other categories cover - technical subjects, cruising, navigation, meteorology, racing, sails, biographies, fiction, history and all can be borrowed for 4 weeks without charge. After that a small fee will be levied.
- BOATS - design, building, buying, rigs, fittings, engines, electrics, repair and maintenance.
- CRUISING - techniques, boat handling, seamanship, crewing, anchors and moorings, knots, flags, safety and cooking.
- DATA - pilot books, almanacs and tidal data, legal matters.
- NAVIGATION - techniques, charts, instruments, text books, computers for navigation, radios etc, electronic devices, radar.
- RACING - rules, techniques, crewing.
- SAILS - design, sal/making, care, maintenance and repair
- HISTORY - naval, maritime events, biographies.
- METEOROLOGY - weather forecasting.
- FUN/FACT/FICTION - factual of general nature, oceans, seas and marine biology, marine art fiction ' tales, long, short and tall', nautical humour and bunkside books.
The Library is open to members for a couple of hours before lectures on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Do come and browse.
You can browse the catalogue on line. The Club receives a steady supply of new books from publishers and donations from former Club members. Reviews of all new books are published regularly.
