Saturday 15th August 2015 - ‘Didn’t we have a lovely time the day we went to Littlehampton’
Oxygen’s crew arrived late Friday evening so after a boat cooked curry we all retired to bed.
The lines were slipped from Southampton Town Quay at 07.30 hours. We motored down Southampton Water, by the time we reached the Solent the skipper decided to hoist the spinnaker, we sailed until we neared the Looe Channel then the winds were too light to maintain a satisfactory speed to the passage plan and entrance to Littlehampton so Oxygen motored around Selsey Bill and the lobster pots. Windhover was spotted in the distance.
We soon arrived at Littlehampton and met up with the other boats, Windhover, Ronhilda, Kioni and Mary Lunn.
There were not enough boats to carry out the drinks in speed dating fashion so another gathering was created. All boats were invited for Afternoon Tea onboard Oxygen, which left its crew making sandwiches and finding cakes to suit. These were washed down with tea, wine or beer. A Tea Party quiz, relating to tea topics was handed out and all enthusiastically took part. Mary Lunn was declared the winner.
Boats collected at the restaurant 47 Mussel Row at 18.30 hours BST for a very pleasant evening meal where chatter, laughter and jokes were heard. We all retired back to the boats for a good nights sleep.
Sunday dawned and Ronhilda left first at about 09.30, other boats waiting a little longer for the tide to rise, there was very little wind so we mostly motored back to our home ports.
A good time was had by all!
