Summer on the Solent

Best moment: sailing back from Bembridge after a perfect camping/sailing weekend of glorious sunshine with four teenagers and two 'grown ups' on a 26' boat (hence the camping element). As you can see from the pictures, it felt more like the Med than the Solent.

Another best moment: deciding to go round the Back of the Wight for the second time, hardly any boats, lots of sea, lots of wind and 6X sailed down the Needles Channel into big seas very beautifully.

Third best moment: picking up a mooring at Itchenor on a beautiful Indian summer Friday night at Itchenor, absolutely idyllic (until two more boats joined us).

Most stupid moment: going aground while trying to anchor at East Head. At least it was a rising tide.

Silliest moment: going ashore at Itchenor in a not-quite-pumped-up dinghy, without a torch, or a pump and rowing back to the boat in the dark from the pub. At least we had lifejackets and the front half of the dinghy stayed inflated.

Best rally: Back of the Wight (it was great, brilliant weather, lots of good sailing, great company... we'll be there next year!)
