Little Ship Club is pleased to welcome Tom Cunliffe to lead this one-day course in the use of electronic navigation aids. The course will make extensive use of PC Plotter software running on the Club’s new PCs and E120 Chart plotters kindly loaned by Raymarine. Real hands on tuition will be provided, including:

Introduction –

PC Plotters vs. Chart Plotter Hardware -

Use of the Plotter, Raster and Vector charts, hands on practice on the equipment

Plotters for Passage Planning -

Planning, preparation, programming, hands on practice

Plotters in ongoing navigation –

Passage making, keeping track, handling change, electronic meltdown, hands on practice

Plotters in Pilotage –

Planning and implementing a Pilotage Plan, keeping track, responding to the unexpected, practice exercises

Embedded Features -

Tidal heights and streams, pleasures and pitfalls, exercises

Added Value -

Weather charts, AIS etc

Discussion.

The day will commence with Coffee at 09:30, break for a Club Lunch at 12:30 and conclude at 16:30

The cost of the course including Club Lunch and an Autographed copy of Tom’s DVD is £130

Places are strictly limited and initial interest is high so please book early at the Club Office to avoid disappointment.

A working knowledge of first aid is useful for anyone going out on small craft, especially skippers, and is a requirement for those with coastal skipper/yacht master offshore.

This course covers a broad range of situations that may face you. Those attending will be taught the recovery position and resuscitation techniques.

A certificate is awarded and is valid for three years.

The course is recognised by the HSE and MCA
