Jim Saltonstall Racing Rules Pt IV - The Most Challenging Sport in the World

Jim was the GBR Youth Coach for 23 years as staff of the RYA Olympic Team Coach 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Team attained 3 Gold & 2 Silver Medals hence now retired from the RYA. Now a Freelance Professional Coach mainly with Keel Boats – TP52’s, Swan 45’s & Etchells

Over the past 30 years or so Tucker Designs have designed a fair number of yachts which have cruised extensively or circumnavigated.

Some have been production vessels; others "limited editions" ranging in length 5.5-22m. Tony’s experience covers almost all materials/construction; rigs; accommodation; sailplans; as well as odd requirements (berths in the shape of a Cello, another in the shape of a French horn) etc…

Join us for a fund raising evening in aid of the RNLI at the club. There will be sea stories from Pete Goss and a local RNLI crew member. We're delighted to welcome them and this is your chance to hear more about their experiences and share a few of your own as well. The ticket price is £10 which will be donated to the RNLI. The evening also includes a whisky tasting provided by Talisker Whisky (fund-raising sponsors) and a fork buffet.

Tonight's lecture will be based on the film "Shackleton's Boat: The Story Of The James Caird".

Roderic Dunnett is website editor of the James Caird
Society. He got his interest in Shackleton from his
father, Harding McGregor Dunnett, Founder of the Society, author and the maker of tonight's film. Roderic has broadcast some 20 programmes on BBC Radio 3 and has written extensively on music, opera and books for The Independent, FT, Spectator, Oldie, Opera Now, The Strad,and the Church Times. He is the author of or contributor to books on the composers Dvorak and Debussy, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies and Sir Arthur Bliss, and has a special interest in English Opera and Eastern Europe, where he has travelled extensively. Other passions include Romano-Celtic remains, Greek History and Poetry (which he taught for 15 years), Boys' Hockey (of whose National
Championships he was the founder and administrator from 1981-94).

Dinner Menu: Mushroom and hazelnut paté, Roast Beef + Yorkshire Pudding + Selection of Vegetables, Apple Crumble with custard or cream, Round of Port, Coffee & Mints. Vegetarian option: Goat's cheese and red onion tart. £45 Per Person
