About the club
Established in 1926, the Little Ship Club has a long tradition and a unique location on the North bank of the River Thames in the heart of the City of London. The modern clubhouse is the base for the Club's shore-based activities, including a highly-regarded RYA training programme and many social events. Sir Robin Knox-Johnston is our President.

The Club has always had two main objectives, social and educational. It provides those with a love of the sea and boats, both sail and power, with a place where they can meet congenial spirits and exchange ideas, and it also gives members the opportunity to learn navigation, seamanship and other skills. From the start it has been an objective of the Club to provide skippers with crew as well as crewing opportunities, at all levels of experience, for members without boats through our active Skippers and Crew programme. Members
Club members are a diverse, international group but all share a common passion: a love of the sea and sailing and actively get together on the water for cruising, rallies and racing. These take place mainly on the East and South Coasts of the UK although many members take part in long-distance cruising to warmer (and colder) waters.

New members are always welcome, the main requirement being at least a passing interest in either sailing or motorboating. Non-boating members are welcome too as the Clubhouse location is perfect for those wanting to hold business meetings and entertain in the City.

Sailing events
There are regular events to join during the season from April to October. Those who don't want to hang up their oilies for the winter can take part in the monthly fast-cruise series from October to March on the Solent.

We do our best to help new members to get on the water by encouraging new members to sign onto the Skippers and Crew register on the member's section of the website, to meet fellows sailors on a Tueday Club night and to help match skippers and crew for weekend sailing and longer rallies.

Tuesday evening Club nights
Tuesday night is the Club night when we have a published programme of lectures, talks or slide shows and afterwards a two-course supper is served for 14.50 pounds. There will always be a new member's officer on duty, do join him or her if you are by yourself, or want advice, they will be only too pleased to speak to you.

Training
The Club offers all the shore-based RYA training courses.

The Little Ship magazine
Published three times a year and distributed to all members, The Little Ship is a 40 page colour magazine with news, features and reports of Club activities.

Web Site
The club hosts an active web site where members can see a complete calendar of club events, read club and sailing news, read accounts of rallies and participate in forums with other sailors. Members receive an eBulletin by email every 3-4 weeks with details of new and updated information on the site.
