From the Journal: the last voyage of the Windstar

From The Little Ship of Winter 1959 comes this amazing tale of the last voyage of the Windstar by Peter Combe.
Windstar was a 29 Tons T.M. bermudan sloop built at Mevagissy in 1938 by Percy Mitchell whom (former LSC President) Claud Worth described as 'an artist in wood'. After a war spent as a barrage balloon anchor she was acquired by Captain Bertram Currie in 1948 and during the late 40s and the 1950s was raced and cruised out of Cowes. King George V was frequently aboard as was HRH Princess Elizabeth.
On 28th July 1956 she departed Lowestoft bound for Cowes and was lost. Peter Combe and Captain Currie were eventually taken off her before she sank.
