RYA Basic Navigation and Safety Course

This is a course that will introduce the student to navigation and safety at sea and is ideal for those who have recently developed an interest in boating, are at Competent Crew level of the RYA Scheme or operate a small power boat for fishing or diving.

The Club is currently considering offering this course to 14 – 18 year old members and the dates shown below are provisional, see below to download an expression of interest form.

Content:  Charts and publications, safety, buoyage, tidal awareness, basic navigation and pilotage, rules of the road, electronic navigation, anchoring, weather forecasts and passage planning.

Suggested min. pre-course experience:  None.

Assumed knowledge:  None.

Ability after course:  A basic awareness and understanding of navigation and safety.

Dates :  This course will take place in the Spring of 2009 and only if sufficient students apply.

Price: £95 for the three day course including the provision of all course materials.
