Mechanical failure is the main cause of lifeboat call-out to yachts and motor cruisers. An understanding of basic maintenance and the ability to prepare for and undertake simple repairs at sea may ensure you are not included in these statistics. This is therefore an essential course for those who plan to skipper vessels equipped with a diesel engine(s) or are interested in their maintenance and repair.

Content: Basic maintenance and engine care.

Suggested min. pre-course experience: None

Assumed knowledge: None

Ability after course: Awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine. Able to take simple measures to prevent mechanical breakdown at sea and rectify defects which do not require workshop support.
