What is Skippers and Crew?
It has always been an objective of the Little Ship Club to provide crewing opportunities at all levels of experience for members without boats and crews for owners/skippers who require them. It achieves this aim through Skippers and Crew.
So if you just want to go sailing or are looking for crew then Skippers and Crew is for you.
Skippers seeking crew
Share watches, lighten the load and cover longer distances with a crew and build sea miles more easily. No longer are your horizons limited by a lack of crew: with details of crewing members on-line, meet great people and discover the pleasure of sharing life aboard. Or if you are interested in purchasing a new boat, why not go crewing with a Skipper who has the type of boat you are interested in?
Crew seeking berths The complete novice is catered for, and so is the salty sea dog. Have fun and meet your fellow members. No longer be reliant on owning a boat to go sailing. Great for building miles and gaining experience under sail or power.
How does it work? Skippers looking for crew and crew looking for skippers enter their details online and each can then search the database for opportunities. On Tuesday evenings the Skippers and Crew team is on hand to help with entering your details, and with introductions to other members; and through the year various events are held – for example, a presentation by skippers of sailing plans for the coming season. If you turn up on a Tuesday evening you can often find a skipper looking for crew.
Skippers and Crew is not for those seeking paid work of any kind or for skippers running charters, and is only open to members of the Little Ship Club.
