Clipper crew safely ashore while Cork breaks up in the waves

An emotional Cork crew arrived safely in Batam, Indonesia after being rescued from their yacht which hit a rock on 14 January in the Java sea while racing in the fifth leg of the Clipper Round the World Race.

Ice, snow, boat show... why go?

Preview day at the boat show and what is on offer this year? It's billed as the biggest ten days in the UK boating industry and there are countless special boat show offers for the punters. I decided to target 32 foot cruising boats and see what I could get for my money. And here's the unscientific survey....

E-borders scheme consultation at boat show

The UK Border Agency has a stand (N032R) at the Boat Show and is actively seeking opinions from the yachting community about how the e-Border scheme should be implemented.

Little Ship Club presence at boat show

The boat show is over for another year and the Little Ship Club stand offered visitors the chance to join the Club and meet illustrious guest speakers, including president Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Atlantic rower Sally Kettle, and round the world racer Alex Alley.

Amber Sea will be cruising from Antigua to Chesapeake bay USA, via St.Martin/BVI's/AVI's/Turks and Caicos/ and the Bahamas.

I look forward to many Little Ship Club members joining me, only costs are plane tickets and share of expenses(food/fuel/mooring).

New sailing handicap formula makes fairer racing

A new formula for sailing handicaps has been created which uses simple boat measurements, rather than results of past performances, to generate a simple, fair and transparent system for sailing races.

Last Tuesday 15 December 2009 was the date when prizes and certificates were presented to this year’s winners by Patrick Roach, the eminent marine photographer. Also attending was Janet Murphy, a director of Adlard Coles Nautical, who had presented 5 copies of Patrick’s latest book to be given as prizes.

There were 90 photographs sent in by almost 30 members.

The Little Ship Club

The Little Ship Club is a Club for sailors of all sorts. It has a long tradition and a unique location by Southwark bridge in the City of London.

The modern clubhouse is the base for the Club's shore-based activities, including a highly-regarded RYA training programme and many social events. Sir Robin Knox-Johnston is our President.
