On Monday 22nd April 2019, our Honorary Life Vice President – Sir Robin Knox-Johnston – will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of his historic win of the first Golden Globe Race held in 1968/69. Sir Robin will be sailing Suhaili from Gosport to Falmouth and will cross the original finishing line on the same date and time as he did in 1969. This will be followed by a grand buffet reception later in the afternoon and through the evening at the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club, to which 30 of our members are cordially invited to attend. This is a special privilege as the LSC, together with the Cruising Association, are the only clubs, out of the many invited, to be allocated this number of tickets at Sir Robin’s specific request and in recognition of his long and active association with both clubs.

A number of these tickets have already been assigned. If you wish to be there and join in with the celebrations for this unique and historic event, whether by sea or by land, please email directly to Emma Eason of Clipper Ventures at:    eeason@clipper-ventures.com   and copy in to me also at:    richardtkeen@gmail.com   Tickets are £30 each and give entry to the ticket only buffet reception and evening party at the Royal Cornwall YC. As you might imagine, numbers are strictly limited. If you would like to attend this reception, please purchase your tickets no later than close of business on Monday 11 March.

This is a truly unique opportunity to celebrate with Sir Robin, his family and friends, so don’t delay in registering your intent and to avoid the disappointment of missing out on the limited tickets available.
